Vietnam Day 8

This morning we all took a class on the religion Buddhism. What I found interesting about the Buddhism religion is that they believe when you pass depending on how good you were in this life depends on what you get reincarnated into in the next life. Right after the class we took a trip down to the Buddhist temple. I thought that the temple had some very beautiful architecture and statues of the Buddha. Also, I thought it was very peaceful inside the temple so people can go inside and pray.

After that we took a quick lunch break then headed off to the Reunification Palace. Despite it being very hot inside I thought going to the palace was a fun trip. I like learning about the different rooms they had and what the designs mean. For example, the one meeting room was decorate with the colors green and blue because green and blue stands for peace.

For our final stop of the day we went to the War Remnants Museum. I personally thought that this part of the trip was kind of sad as we learned about all the negative outcomes of the Vietnam war. For example, they had a lot of pictures of soldiers and when you go to read the description of the photo it would say something like “this photo was taken just days before he passed” or “he passed away during one of the battles”. Also, reading the stories and seeing the pictures of the kids who were affected by Agent Orange was truly upsetting. A lot of them would have serious health issues down the line because of their birth defect.
