Our penultimate day in Cyprus was gorgeous, and we got to visit three different companies in Limassol. We started the day at Bernard Shulte Shipmanagement Training Center learning about training courses, simulators, and the day-to-day life of a seafarer. I love being on the water, but I’m not sure how I would deal with ship fires and piracy! After the Shulte Group we headed to Colombia Ship Management. CSM manages over 450 vessels and employees over 22,000 people. I was particularly interested in their performance optimization control room where they monitor ships speed and emissions, and using weather patterns, past piracy knowledge, and sanctions optimize routes for all types of ships. The diagrams they use to track ships were fascinating!

Our last company visit of the day was Medochemie, a pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor. We learned about quality assurance and pharmaceutical supply chain, and ended our trip with a tour of the warehouse. For the rest of the day, I am looking forward to a few minutes of relaxing, and our farewell dinner. It’s sad to realize how soon we head home, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to have visited Cyprus and learning so much and business and history! I’m excited to enjoy our last day on this beautiful island!
