Oil Tank Park and Waterworks

As the trip has been coming to an end, we started the morning at the Oil Tank Culture Park, a former oil depot turned public cultural space. Unfortunately, the inside of the tanks were closed for the day, so we couldn’t go on the full tour. Still, walking around the massive tanks and park space was fascinating. Seeing how the site has been reimagined for community use was really cool. Even without going inside, the industrial design, natural landscaping, and city views made the stop worthwhile.

After exploring the park, we headed over to the Seoul Waterworks Ttukdo Water Purification Center. This was a completely different kind of experience, but just as interesting. We learned how the city takes water directly from the Han River and processes it into clean, usable water for millions of residents. Touring the facility made me realize how much technology, science, and care goes into something we often take for granted like safe drinking water. From sediment removal to chemical treatment and filtration, each step was clearly explained and showed the importance of water management in a big city like Seoul.

After the tour, we headed over to Yeonmujang, a trendy and artsy neighborhood not too far away. We grabbed some pizza for dinner, it was simple, delicious, and exactly what we needed after a day of walking and learning. Then we spent some time exploring the shops in the area. Yeonmujang has a mix of boutiques and vintage stores that made for a relaxed way to end the day.
