Step by Step Through Spain: A Day of Hiking

Today, I started off my morning with the hotel breakfast. We moved hotels so it wasn’t buffet style, but I had some watermelon and cake. Then, we bused to Bosque Oma where we went on a hike and saw the rock that they filmed the Lord of the Rings on. The hike had super steep hills and had a very rocky surface, so it was pretty challenging, but it was definitely worth the hike. I was super tired after this, but luckily we bused over to Mundaka for lunch after this.

For lunch, there were lots of options for pintxos, so I ended up going to multiple restaurants and tried different pintxos. I also got ice cream after that as our instructors generously paid for the whole group to get ice cream. It was nice to have a long break before we did more hiking in San Juan de Gatelugatxe to see the painted trees. I think that this is such a cool concept. Essentially, there are a lot of tree painted in a forest, and from the right angle and place, they align to make art. On our hike back from the forest, we ran into sheep and horses, and I even got to pet the horse. After this, we bused back to our hotel, and I got some pizza for dinner. It was a long day, and a super tiring one, but I would say this was probably my favorite day of activities.
