For our final full day in Cyprus we got to visit St. Mina’s Monastery and Lefkara Village. Both places are set up high in the mountains of Cyprus. St. Mina’s Monastery is a small monastery that has a church inside and along the edges has housing for nuns. It was easy to see that the residents of the monastery put a lot of work into the upkeep of it as it was beautifully preserved and had many flowers and trees inside and along the outside past to the Monastery, they even sold their own honey and jams within the Monastery. Later in the day we visited Lefkara an amazing small town that is known for their lace and silverware. Their lace even inspired the tablecloth that is seen on the painting of The Last Supper. Georgia, our guide for the trip, took us on a tour of Lefkara and we even met Maria, the daughter of a Greek Cypriot who had this story of being given a jasmine plant by a Turkish Cypriot who was his neighbor until he was told to relocate to Northern Cyprus by the Turkish Government.
