The final day of the trip came, and we had a unique opportunity to travel on our own. Leo and I took an early train Thursday morning to the City of Innsbruck in Austria. We tried to find the best way to use our free day and after days of deliberation we settled on Innsbruck. We wanted to leave the country while also having not too long of a train ride. We found a cheap regional pass that allowed us to venture all the way from Augsburg to Innsbruck. The train took around 3 and a half hours and we arrived around 11 a.m. This allowed us to walk around and see what the city had to offer.
It did not disappoint as the architecture was beautiful in the old town area. Colorful houses mixed with streets that winded allowed for some amazing sites. The one downside of this trip was the cloud coverage around Innsbruck. The pictures we saw online showed the amazing alps hugging the city, but we could not see any of it. White skies covered the mountain. It was a bummer, but we were able to move past it. After going to museums, restaurants, and shops, we eventually found a train that took us home at 4 p.m. It took 4 hours, but we made it back to Augsburg safe and in time for our flight home. It was a hectic day, but I loved the opportunity to travel outside of Germany to Austria and visit a new country. I chose a picture of me standing in a beautiful Innsbruck alleyway.
