Today was officially the end of our time in Germany. It was a long travel day, starting with a 5 AM wake-up to catch the bus to Munich Airport. We grabbed a quick breakfast and loaded up for the last ride with the group. The airport process went pretty smoothly, and security and customs didn’t take too long, but we didn’t have much time to sit around either. By the time we got to the gate, they were already boarding the flight.
While the flight was long, I was happy I didn’t get stuck in the middle seat and tried to relax by watching a few movies. Luckily, the flight back felt shorter, even though it was actually longer.
Getting through customs and rechecking bags took some time, and we also had to go through TSA again, which felt like a hassle after such a long flight. After making it through, I said goodbye to the friends heading back to Philly since their flight was leaving soon, while those of us flying to Pittsburgh had a longer layover.
We found a Shake Shack in the terminal, and it was a nice welcoming back taste of home. We hung out at the gate for a while before boarding the short final leg of the trip.
The flight back to Pittsburgh was quick and easy. Once we landed, I grabbed my bags and said final goodbyes to the people I’d spent nearly every day with since we landed in Munich. It felt a little weird walking out of the airport as if the trip had ended all at once.
My roommate picked me up, and just like that, the Plus3 Germany experience was over. It was exhausting, packed, and sometimes unpredictable, but it was absolutely worth it.
