A journey to Germany

Hi everyone! My name is Erin Corcoran and I am a junior marketing major here at the University of Pittsburgh. In the future, I hope to work in sports marketing and digital media production. I am passionate about pursuing a career in sports marketing because it combines my love for sports with my interest in creative communication, brand strategy, and content production. With my interest in content production, I started up my own photography business about three years ago. I believe that a photo can tell a story and when applying that to my future career path, I hope to make a strong connection between teams, athletes, and fans. I believe that Pitt has provided me with a strong foundation professionally and academically, and I hope to apply the skills I have acquired to the projects and events that will occur while visiting Germany!

On campus, I am a member of the American Marketing Association and the professional business organization, Phi Beta Lambda. You can find me studying in the Cathedral of Learning, getting coffee with my friends, or reading on a bench somewhere! In my free time I enjoy diving into a good book, hanging out with my friends, and playing the piano. I also love to travel! I will do anything to travel somewhere warm or just try somewhere new! I am especially excited to visit Augsburg, Germany since this will be my first time out of the country!

I decided to participate in the Plus3 program in Germany because I wanted a short-term immersive experience that allowed me to learn more about German culture while also connecting with professionals and students in my field. I hope to gain a better understanding of the automotive industry and the process of supply chain in business. Academically, I aim to deepen my understanding of business through observation, interaction, and real-world exposure. Professionally, I hope this experience will give me insight into international approaches in business and prepare me for future global opportunities.

I am going into this experience excited to learn! I cannot wait to meet new people, see new places, and make new memories!
