Hello! My name is Emily Lehman and I am a first year bioengineer. I am so excited to be a part of the Plus3 Spain program! I am currently on the cellular track for bioengineering, and hope to work in tissue engineering or with artificial organs. I am really excited for bioengineering, because I get to combine math, science, and medicine, which are all fields I enjoy! I’m from Hanover Pennsylvania, about four hours away from Pittsburgh. In high school, I was really involved in volleyball, music, and student council! At Pitt, I am involved in Engineering Student Council, BMES, and SWE. In my free time, I like to bake, shop, hike, and am always down to get a coffee!
I chose Plus3 Spain because I am very interested in the medical field, and am curious to explore how other countries develop medical technology. By doing Plus3, I hope to gain real world experience in my field. I also hope to broaden my perspective professionally by discussing medicine with both professionals from another country, and with nurses who may have a different view on technology. I am very excited to get a first-hand view of how bioengineering is applied in the real world. Personally, I have always wanted to go to Spain, and now I get to combine exploration with professional development. I am so excited to grow professionally, academically, and personally, and to have so much fun on this trip!
