Hi, my name is Tatiana Kwasinski! I am a first year nursing student also pursuing a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology. I live about 30 minutes north of Pitt in Wexford, PA. Although I am not far from home, I have loved living in the city and learning more about what Pittsburgh has to offer! At the University of Pittsburgh, I actively participate in several social and healthcare organizations, including the Latin Student Nursing Association, where I connect with my community through my Argentine heritage and fluency in Spanish.
After graduating, I aspire to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. My passion for working with children began through my experiences as a math tutor and swim instructor. I have truly loved watching the kids I taught grow and succeed in their goals. I am excited by the opportunity to make a deeper impact on their lives through pediatric nursing, and this interest has only strengthened through volunteering at UPMC Children’s Hospital! In my free time, I love to go on walks, play pickleball, and spend time with friends.
In May, I am excited for the opportunity to participate in the Plus3 Spain Program alongside nursing and engineering students. Coming from a family of engineers, I have always been surrounded by conversations about innovation, problem solving, and how technology shapes the world. While I chose to pursue nursing, this background has contributed to my interest in how engineering and healthcare intersect, especially in improving patient outcomes and advancing medical care. I chose this program because being able to learn in a completely new environment pushes me outside of my comfort zone and allows me to grow in ways that a traditional classroom cannot offer. In particular, I am eager to explore how healthcare systems differ beyond the United States and to better understand how culture influences patient care. Additionally, through this program, I hope to further improve my Spanish skills while strengthening my cultural competency. I also aim to build communication and teamwork skills across disciplines. Overall, I hope to become more independent, adaptable, and open-minded.
I am excited to learn from my peers and mentors, experience a new culture, and bring back meaningful insights that will shape both my education and future in healthcare!
