Hello, my name is Clementine Asmuth-Day and I am from Central PA. I am majoring in mechanical engineering, and planning on getting a nuclear certificate as well. From a young age, I have been passionate about sustainability and sustainable forms of energy, and I hope to make a difference in those areas. I plan on pursuing a job in the nuclear energy field, although I’m also interested in aerospace and marine engineering.

For fun, I enjoy going on walks and spending time in nature, as well as hiking, skiing, and hanging out on the beach. I also love listening to music and playing songs I like on piano and guitar. I especially like alt rock, indie rock, folk rock, new wave, and indie folk, and I usually listen to music while I go on walks. I also enjoy watercolor painting and sketching sometimes, especially of things that I find in nature.

I chose to go to the Netherlands for my Plus3 experience. I really love how the trip to the Netherlands is centered around sustainability, and I am excited to learn how other countries tackle sustainability issues. I love traveling to new countries, but I think that this experience will be unlike any I have had before, since we will be learning so much about the differences in technology and environmental practices in addition to culture. I hope to gain new perspectives on ways to combat environmental issues, and learn new problem-solving skills that I can apply to my projects and ideas back in the U.S. I am also interested in studying abroad again, or even working abroad long-term, so I hope that this experience will give me insight into what that could look like, or even connections that might make that more feasible for me.
