Hi! My name is Anna Lind, and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh studying Finance and Accounting. I grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois, right outside of Chicago, and I am passionate about business and consulting. On campus, I am a member of Smart Women Securities, the American Marketing Association, and Pittsburgh Student Venture Capital, where I have been able to explore finance, marketing, and investing. I was also elected VP of Finance for my sorority, where I oversee budgeting and financial planning. Outside of academics, I love to paint, play tennis, travel, shop, and collect interesting pieces. I also started my own wreath making business during COVID, which first sparked my interest in entrepreneurship and what it actually takes to build something from the ground up.
I am happy to get to be a part of the Plus3 Morocco program because of its focus on entrepreneurship and technology, two areas I find genuinely fascinating but have had little exposure to in a classroom setting. Having started my own small business, I am especially curious to see how people in Morocco face similar challenges on a much larger scale. I am also eager to learn about the role of women in business there and how they navigate building companies in a unique cultural environment. Morocco sits between Europe and Africa, and I am excited to explore how businesses grow and operate there. I look forward to seeing how local business owners identify opportunities and use technology to expand.
Through Plus3, I hope to leave with more than just classroom knowledge. Professionally, I want to build my adaptability and communication skills by working alongside people from completely different backgrounds than my own. Academically, I am excited to see firsthand how businesses and markets operate outside of the U.S. and how that differs from what I have learned at Pitt. I also hope that engaging directly with local entrepreneurs and business leaders will give me a new perspective on problem solving and decision making. On a personal level, I am looking forward to stepping outside of my comfort zone, building new friendships, and coming home with a broader view of the world.
I am so thankful for this opportunity and cannot wait to see everything Morocco has to offer!
Anna Lind
