Hi! I’m Joe Appleby. I am originally from England, but have moved around during my childhood, but right now, I live in Doylestown, PA. I’m a freshman majoring in finance and accounting here at the University of Pittsburgh School of Business. I was a member of Panther Equity my first semester and plan to join another investing-related organization next semester.
When I’m not in class, I love to watch Formula One and both versions of football. I also love to stay fit by running, hiking, and rock climbing whenever I can. I’m a big fan of travelling with my family too since it was a big part of my childhood growing up!
I knew I wanted to apply to this program the minute I heard about it. After having an in-depth presentation on this program and hearing from others who have participated, it only solidified my choice to apply. Morocco was my first choice, but honestly, I’m happy I got Ecuador after researching more about the country and culture. I wanted to participate in this program because of the different view it gives you of how others see the world and how the business environment works internationally.
I can’t wait to take in and experience as much as possible while on this 2-week adventure. I’m hoping to have as many new experiences as possible, which shouldn’t be too hard since we’re going into the Amazon rainforest! I’m super excited to experience another culture and can’t wait to learn and become knowledgeable about Ecuador, somewhere that’s always been on the back of my mind when it comes to places to visit!
