Hi! My name is Aanya, and I’m from the Bay Area in California. I am a Finance, Business Analytics, and BIS major here at Pitt, and I’m mainly involved in Smart Women Securities as a sector head for next semester and as networking event leader for Corporate Connections at Pitt Business.

I love traveling with my family, and some of my favorite places that I’ve been to are Fiji and Iceland. I also enjoy watching sports, mainly the NFL, and I’m a huge San Francisco 49ers fan!

I chose to travel to Morocco because of its focus on technology and entrepreneurship, an intersection of industries that I’m extremely interested to learn more about. With Morocco being a country that has been getting increasingly more developed in the past few years, I saw this location as the perfect place to observe how the people are working to expand their opportunities and resources.

Aside from academic-oriented learning, I wanted to be a part of Plus3 so that I could step outside of my comfort zone. I hope that through the trip I can learn to adapt to the unique way of life in Morocco and get truly immersed in their rich culture and history. I also can’t wait to connect with my host family and learn more about life in Morocco from their perspective.

I’m so excited to go on this journey, and I hope to leave Morocco with so many new, incredible experiences!
