Album of the Day (Listen while reading :3): Analphabetapolothology – caP’n Jazz (It’s a long album so here’s some specific songs to listen to: AOK, Ooh do I love you, Oh Messy life, Theme to “90210”)
Yesterday (day 1) started early, with our flight landing around 5 am here in The Netherlands, having us sleep deprived while we explored much of Central Amsterdam. From a boat tour to tour guides on foot, day 1 was packed full of activities exclusively designed to show us as much of the city as possible while forcing us to stay awake. One of the first things that hit me was how different the infrastructure is here in The Netherlands compared to the USA. From the airport to our hotel, and all the way to Central Amsterdam, there was a distinct lack of cars and a massive reliance on the train and metro. Although we aren’t going to use them, bikes are the most important part of transportation here, completely replacing larger roads in favor of roads just for bikes, which overall removes a massive climate hurdle that the USA struggles with immensely. Overall, day 1 was very awesome but also incredibly tiring, especially since most of us had been running on no sleep since the day before at 5 am.

Today (day 2) was very light compared to day 1, mostly consisting of a scavenger hunt and free time to explore Amsterdam Central in groups. During our free time, we went to FOAM, Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, which had some amazing exhibits, consisting of a powerful view on war and a satirical view of people in the 90s and 2000s and the products they consumed. After that, we went to a store all about Miffy, a famous cartoon bunny that originates here, in The Netherlands! We then proceeded to eat stroopwafles (which were incredible!) and met up with the larger group to see The House of Denim. Here we learned all about their non-profit that aims to reduce the environmental impact of denim production. For 15 years, they’ve been developing and improving denim production practices, which usually take 7 thousand kilos of water just to produce one pair of jeans (not including the bleaching or washing required for other styles. They’ve managed improve their impact, pushing their water use to only 600 kilos of water while maintaining an amazingly beautiful and swag style. Overall, day 2 was incredible and I hope to continue seeing more Miffy :3.

Note: The Pics look VERY dark due to the exposure settings of my digicam. I hope to fix this for the next coming days. Thank you for reading!!!
