Day 3 in Bilbao!
We started our day with a bus ride to Hospital Gorliz which was by far the coolest thing I’ve seen yet! The staff welcomed us, introduced themselves and the hospital itself. They gave a brief overview on their healthcare system and how their hospital runs. The hospital was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Since it was on the coast, it had beautiful views of the beach. The feeling inside was also something I never would’ve expected from a hospital; it had mostly all natural and bright lighting along with a joyful and optimistic feeling instead of your normal hospital feeling. We got a tour of the hospital by the head physician, Pedro. We saw different rehabilitation gyms, patient rooms, and the Oreka- Balance machine. This allowed us a deeper look into this machine, I even got to try it which was so cool to get to experience it first-hand.
After the hospital we walked along the coast for a little bit, and then we all got into smaller groups to find food for lunch in the town near the hospital. We stopped at this adorable restaurant where we got to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. We had amazing paella that was to die for, by far the best thing I’ve eaten in Bilbao. After lunch, we had a little free time to get ready for dinner at Zaka. We had some fun starters, and I ordered ribs and cheesecake which were so good. Everyone together as one big group at dinner was a great way to end the day!
