Day three: Seaside Hospital

on

We started the day on a private bus to the hospital in Gorliz! It was a long ride but the views were beautiful; lots of full green trees, river with boats, and houses with orange roofs. Once we arrived, we were able to see right away how the hospital was positioned on the sea shore. Inside we met a lot of wonderful staff/nurses that explained the hospital background and the treatment/care they provide. After that we took a tour of the hospital. We saw the gyms, scheduling system, and the Oreka-Balance machine. It was very interesting to see how much this hospital differed from the ones in the US. This includes just the general care and equipment (including seeing how the Oreka-Balance worked) in the hospital as well as the environment with the natural light and ocean view.

Following this we walked to a strip with a few restaurants for lunch. The restaurant we chose had delicious Paella! From there, we took the train back to the hotel for a little break. A few of us went for gelato while others took a quick nap or went on a walk.

We ended the day with a really fun group dinner at Zaka! We got to try some different appetizers and I think my favorite was the potatoes. For my main meal I got the veal which was fantastic! And to conclude the meal we got dessert, a cheesecake! which was eventually taken away and held in the kitchen thirty minutes before coming back to the table.

Overall, I had a great time and learned a lot! The hospital visit was so fascinating and the food today was amazing! I am so excited to see what tomorrow brings!
