During these past few days, we have seen how important the history and culture of Athens, an ancient city, is to the country of Greece by visiting museums, landmarks, walking throughout the city, and cooking. Participating in the cooking class provided me with a valuable hands-on experience as to how Greek history and culture is still preserved, as we were able to make traditional gyros step-by-step. When researching for my presentation over Greek food culture before we departed, I learned that Greece values their roots and how they are valued through their cooking. Being immersed in a new culture is relevant to my future because it is broadening my perspective and providing me with a greater sense of understanding as to how other cultures greatly value their history and culture.
