Today we started with a tour of Seoul City Hall. We were divided into two groups, each with two tour guides and were given a tour of the building. One of the most interesting parts of the city hall was its emphasis on sustsainability and green spaces. Right when we walked inside the building, there was a large display of plants up the walls. We were introduced to one of our first smart systems of the trip, which automatically hydrates all of the plants displayed when you first walk in the building. I’m glad to have seen how this technology can be used in a practical way, with a cool application like sustainability.

After quickly grabbing lunch we toured the Ttukdo Water Purification Facility for our first company visit of the trip. We weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the facility, but it was a very interesting and informative experience. We learned about Arisu, the filtered tap water of Seoul. Along with seeing the filtration process and the equipment that the company used, we also went to their water museum, which just added some fun facts about water and the history of filtration.

We ended the day with Korean barbecue for dinner, which was a very fun experience. I thought that the most interesting part was the scissorknives that they used to cut the pork at the table.
