Cooking Class and Guest Lectures

We started off our day with some really interesting presentations from University of Bilbao professors. Our first presentation was about nursing careers and nursing education in Spain. I enjoyed the comparison between the Spanish nursing system and the American nursing systems. The professor also discussed his research on reusing medical devices to make them more accessible and affordable. He specifically mentioned the use of reusing pacemakers, making pacemakers much more accessible to less affluent populations. Our next presentation was about the process of designing a medical device. We walked through the different steps and approach’s towards designing medical devices. As an engineering student it was interesting to hear about the design process.

In the afternoon we took a cooking class! We cooked pinchxos, tortilla, and a yummy dessert. Everything was so delicious. It was fun to try different Spanish foods. I even got to flip the tortilla! The chef teaching us was incredible, and we learned a lot. Overall it was a great day filled with lots learned and yummy food!
