Today was a super fun day! We started off by listening to a couple of presentations. One was from a professor in the School of Nursing here in Bilbao, who discussed the structure of nursing and nursing education in Spain and throughout Europe. The second presentation was given by one of the team members working on the Oreka Balance Project, where he explained the engineering process behind creating medical devices. He walked us through each step of development and discussed how engineers collaborate not only with doctors, but also with patients, to create products that best fit their needs.
After the presentations, we split into two groups, and my group attended a cooking class. We learned how to make tortilla, gilda pintxos, and a very tasty dessert. It was a really fun experience, and I got to try several new foods. I had never tried anchovies before, but honestly, they weren’t bad, I actually really enjoyed them.
After the cooking class, we were supposed to ride the incline, but due to bad weather, our plans changed and we spent time walking through town and exploring different shops instead. I ended up buying an “I ❤️ Bilbao” shirt, but once I got back to the hotel and tried it on, I realized it didn’t fit very well. Even though it was a little disappointing, it still made me laugh and gave me another funny memory from the trip.
