This morning, we started by getting right on the bus to visit another hospital. It was a private hospital where we learned about some of its rehabilitation technology. One of which was an exoskeleton system that is used to help patients walk which was so innovative and interesting. It supports movement and can adjust its speed. It was really cool to see how devices like this can support patients in ways that haven’t be possible before. There were also a few other devices that are used to improve moblity that we got to see. We also got to try a reaction time test which was pretty entertaining! Sadly, I lost my competition against Kyla…
Afterwards we went to the main campus of the university, where we go to see a few physical therapy labs. I really enjoyed comparing differences and similarities between what I have seen in the United States and these labs.
Then our professor gave us a presentation on his research on pelvic floor disorders and the involvement of artifical intelligence with it. The biggest shocker to me was how common pelvic floor disorders are, I had no clue that around 25% suffer from at least one pelvic floor disorder.
After that we traveled to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This was by far one of the most amazing things I’ve seen. It was definitely exhausting but 100% worth it. It was a hike by the ocean involving, stairs, downhill and uphill. Our whole group had so much fun in the beautiful weather and looking that these unreal views of the mountain and the ocean. We finished off our travel day with some well-deserved gelato. Today was so amazing and one definitely I’ll remember!
