¡Hola, Buenos Aires!

on

Hi, my name is Wren Gable. I am from Montgomery county, PA. I am a nursing student here at University of Pittsburgh, also pursuing a minor in Hispanic Language and Culture. I am pursuing to become a nurse because I have always been an advocate for others, and I enjoy making true connections with the people I will help. I also love learning, especially when it comes to healthcare. I want to become a pediatric nurse practitioner and I love working with kids! I work as the assistant site supervisor at my local summer camp, which means I am in charge of the 7 and 8 year old group there. I love the beach, spending time with others, and traveling.

This summer I am traveling to Argentina through Pitt’s Plus3 program. I have chosen this program because I always believe it is important to gain knowledge from other people’s perspectives, especially by studying abroad. As a nurse, I will encounter patients from many different backgrounds, and I am excited to have the opportunity to explore a different culture. I personally hope to gain a stronger understanding of Argentinian culture, and hopefully develop my Spanish speaking skills while abroad. Academically, I wish to understand the different ways in which healthcare systems operate, different roles which exist, and ways to work around low resources. Professionally, I hope to gain many new connections through people I meet on this trip. I am very excited for this opportunity and I cannot wait to dive into this experience!
