Day 1

on

Today we landed in Casablanca, Morocco at 7:15 am. I couldn’t believe we were supposed to start our day right away after nearly 10 hours of traveling before arriving. Initially, when we first landed at the airport, I noticed that my surroundings had a similar bustle to America, but the airport and nearby areas felt much simpler compared to what I usually think of in America, with its extreme advertisements and overwhelming amount of stuff everywhere. After leaving the airport, I was shocked by how different the city felt from what I had imagined even following that idea with my beige colors throughout.

The next part of our day was having the opportunity to visit the Hassan II Mosque. During the tour, our guide informed us that there around 360 speakers hidden throughout the mosque to help broadcast the call to prayer. I found this extremely interesting and impressive because the technology is carefully blended into the architecture without taking away from the beauty of the building.

Now, I can’t wait to wrap up my day at the hotel and maybe explore more of Casablanca tonight with my friends.
