Today in Greece we took a day trip to Epidaurus, and we walked about the town and learned a lot about the history and culture of the town. I learned a lot about the development of Ancient Greece and the past history of Greece over the past century or so. One of the coolest things I saw today was the Epidaurus ancient theater. This was a theater that was extremely popular in Ancient Greece and is still in use today. This was really cool because the theater was shaped using math and calculations to perfect the sound in the stands. This shows how math can be used to improve the real world. I plan on using this in my academic life going forward in a class later in my career called Electro-Acoustics where the final project is building a speaker and the math that the Greeks used to perfect the sound can be used to perfect a speaker. In addition, the success of the theater with the resources they have inspires me for my career as a whole. Overall, today was really cool and I had a lot of fun.
