Today was spent exploring San Sebastián and the surrounding coastline, focusing more on the scenery, history, and layout of the city.
We started the day by going up to a small amusement park just outside the city, where we were able to overlook the beach and the ocean from high above. The views of the coastline and the city were impressive, especially with the clear weather. It gave a good perspective of how San Sebastián is built around the water and surrounding hills.
After that, we went on a walking tour through the city itself. We explored different streets, shops, and places to eat, including the historic Parte Vieja. The architecture and layout of the city felt different from Bilbao, with a stronger focus on the beach and waterfront areas. It was interesting seeing how active and connected the city felt, especially around the old town.
Later in the day, we traveled to a nearby beach where we were able to see the flysch rock formations along the coast. The layered rock formations were unlike anything I had seen before, and it was interesting learning how they were formed over time through geological processes. Combined with the ocean views, it made for a good way to end the day.
Overall, the day was more focused on exploring the natural scenery and culture of the Basque coast while getting to experience another city outside of Bilbao.
