Day 7 – CAN YOU HEAR ME DOWN HERE???

Today on our trip, we visited the ancient theater in Epidaurus and learned how its design allows the actors’ voices to be heard throughout the entire stadium even without sound-enhancing tools. It’s the geometry of the stadium that allows this to happen, and it was something that was meticulously planned by the ancient Greek people who built it. Our guide, Dimitri, who had been teaching us about Greek culture and history for our trip, had told us about how, even though we are engineers, we should diversify our knowledge and work to be well-rounded in other areas. Since this was our last historical/cultural part of the trip and the last time we would meet with him, this meant a lot to me. I will be sure to take this advice and apply it not only to my career as an engineer but also to my life. Making sure that I am knowledgeable in areas besides math and sciences will help me broaden my perspective and understand the world and the people around me.
