This morning, we had a nice late wake-up so that we could sleep in after our long week. We met for breakfast around 9:20, and at 9:40 we all met in the lobby to get on the bus. I was still extremely tired, so on our one-hour bus ride to San Sebastian, I took a nice nap to recharge. Our first stop was an amusement park at the top of a neighboring mountain next to the city. I had seen a video of a boat ride along the mountain top with a gorgeous view. We didn’t have much time, so Gabe, Sascha, and I booked it to the line and made it just in time for the ride, and got an awesome video. We got to downtown San Sebastian and arrived at a beautiful bus terminal. Mangel led us through an insightful tour of the city, showing us the modern culture as well as explaining the history. It was absolutely gorgeous. Then, Sascha and I spent our free time finding some delicious pintxos and going to the beach. At the beach, we met some athletes participating in a new sport for the 2028 Olympics!
After we met up at 3:05, we headed off to Zumaia, a gorgeous beach in a Basque village. The rock formations on the beach were so fascinating, coming from natural erosion as well as a meteorite from thousands of years ago. The real part I was excited for was to be able to swim. The water was cold, but after you acclimated to it, it felt so good. After a fun time in the ocean, we got to the bus and headed back to the hotel for an afternoon siesta. And at night, we went out to dinner for burgers! I am super excited for what tomorrow has to offer.
