Day 7: Taking in the Coast

on

What a great day in Spain! Today we took a day trip to San Sebastian, an absolutely beautiful city located directly on the coast. We first took a trip to the top of a nearby mountain to see San Sebastian from afar first. The view was absolutely gorgeous and you could even see France across the water! There was also a small amusement park located at the top of the mountain. We then began our tour through San Sebastian. The city is an extremely popular location for locals and tourists alike, and you will hear a great variety of languages because of international travel.

We then embarked on our walking tour of the city. It was a significant change of pace from Bilbao to San Sebastian as Bilbao is not a necessarily busy city while San Sebastian was bustling with people. We saw various beautiful buildings, but my favorite was the inside of the church with gorgeous stained glass windows. We then enjoyed some time for pintxos and shopping before heading to our next destination.

Our next stop was in the small town of Zumaia. It was also a coastal town but was significantly smaller and less busy than San Sebastian. After a short walk, we arrived at the beach where we explored a few small caves and attempted to put our feet in the water, but it was much too cold!

We ended our day with a quiet bus ride back to Bilbao. After some much needed rest at the hotel, our entire group went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant nearby and had a satisfying end to our seventh day in Spain.
