One aspect of the site visit of the Hyatt hotel that I was really interested in was the local artwork pieces that were on display all over the hotel. I really resonated with this aspect of the hotel because I think it really added a lot of character and culture to the hotel, and really separated it from other Vietnamese hotels and other Park Hyatt locations.

I think the Park Hyatt is holding onto their brand potential through implementing practices that are able to generate loyal guests. For example, they offer unique experiences and amenities (spa, fitness center, in-house restaurants, etc.) that cater to the guests’ needs and preferences, making guests feel special, and want to return to the specific hotel. This creates a lot of brand potential because helping the brand gain loyal customers, leads to long-term success and growth. Additionally, their practices include catering the experience of Park Hyatt to each individual person, which is really impressive, as it shows the dedication and work ethic of the Park Hyatt staff.

Some connections to sustainability that I found through the Park Hyatt were reusable body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, instead of just single-use plastics that build up over time, and contribute to pollution. Also, Hyatt uses artificial intelligence to analyze the optical amount of food to serve in order to avoid large amounts of food waste. This correlates back to the lecture on organizational resilience, because it improves the hotel’s reputation among environmentally conscious guests and helps the organization adapt to changing sustainability expectations and regulations.

However, an ethical issue that I noticed was that although they are using artificial intelligence in a way that is meant to benefit humanity, it is kind of counter-productive. This is because by using AI, the planet still loses essential amounts of water that could be used to help humanity as well. Thus, I feel like there could be better ways for the Hyatt to go about avoiding waste, while still emphasizing saving the planet.
