It definitely was not my ideal rest before a long day of travel, but I woke up this morning in Tower A feeling ready for the long adventure ahead. Last night, we spent some time together as a group, getting to know each other a little better and it made me even more excited for the next two weeks!
Everything went smoothly at the Pittsburgh Airport and we made it to our gate. I got the window seat on the first flight and sat next to my roommate for the next 2 weeks, Brooke! We landed in Newark and had a couple hour layover. I am quite familiar with the Newark airport because I have flown out of there plenty of times in the past. We spent quite some time wandering around for food, and ended up with some pretty undesirable fast food, Wendy’s, but we were all too hungry to care.
We finally boarded for our 8 hour flight to Munich and this was definitely one of the biggest planes I have ever been on. I was in the middle section in the aisle seat; we had a screen in front of us with a lot of TV/movie options and were served dinner. The flight definitely didn’t go by fast, but I was able to watch a movie and fall in and out of sleep. There was also a beautiful sunrise that I caught a glimpse of. The plane touched down around 7:30 AM Germany time and the tiredness was already hitting me, but I was ready to push through and get ready for the long first day ahead.
Looking forward to this program, I am extremely excited to see all the different cities, especially Munich and I am really looking forward to the Neuschwanstein Castle visit . All aspects of the trip interest me, the site visits and just bonding with the both the Pitt and German students!
