This was our second to last day in Greece. While it is upsetting we leave soon, we still had such an amazing day. We had two academic visits today: Titan Cement and the Athens Airport. Titan Cement was our first visit today. They took us through the process of creating cement. We also learned that they have to make different types of cement for different purposes. We also got to tour a piece of the facility and saw their main communications room. I found the whole operation very interesting since they have to been open 24/7, and I would have never thought that much work goes into making cement.
We then visited the Athens Airport. They showed us their solar panel farm and they run on 100% clean energy which is very impressive. We then recieved a presentation on how they plan on expanding the airport. Finally we were able to visit one of the communication rooms in the airport as well. My main takeaway from today is the I can positivley effect people in my field of work through a high level of communication. Both companies we visited today showed us their communication centers and I believe part of why they operate as well as they do, is because of these strong communication ethics. Even though being an engineer is not the most communication-required career choice by nature, both of the companies showed the great advantages of healthy communication as a team. Excited for our last day and I will miss Greece dearly.
