Today we visited AlfaOmega, which is a pharmeceutical logistics company whose operations are limited only to Greece. Typically, Greek logistics companies don’t cover pharmaceuticals due to all the regulations and specifics, which really allowed AlfaOmega to thrive in their niche. Our tour today included the entirety of their warehouse, which featured two dropoff and two export sections, as well as one temperature controlled section which operates regularly between 2 and 8 celsius. I thought it was really cool how they used a specific thermal insulated box to ship temperature sensitive product, which they also collect and reuse! Also, they have a designated parking area in their warehouse for their forklifts, which they mark with yellow paint on the floor. Overall, I thought it was a really cool trip and I enjoyed learning about their unique shipping, storage and distribution systems.
