Day 11 – Mello Yellow Memories of Greece

on

Today we had our final company visit to Alfaomega, a logistics company that specializes in pharmaceuticals. During our visit, they told us about their operations and history. After that, they gave us a tour of their facility which consisted of multiple large hangar-like warehouses. Through these spaces, they were marked with colored tape, creating a special area set and making a kind of road for the forklifts and people. They had boxes stacked to the ceiling in some of the rooms, while others that handled unloading had all the boxes spread out in piles. On the tour, we were shown the freezer that preserves all the medicine and is kept at -20 degrees Celsius. After that, we were shown a special cart that was made specifically for them. It could hold multiple orders and display relevant information for each one, so that workers can fill multiple orders at once. To end our tour, we were shown the storage room for the forklifts. They painted the floor of this area bright yellow to differentiate it from the working floor and make it easier to identify fallen objects. These two innovations bring uniqueness and are a great example of how they are setting themselves apart from the competition.
