Last Day, Best Day!

For our final day in Bilbao, we spent the morning visiting the university’s labs and seeing some of the incredible projects students and professors were working on. One of the most meaningful was a 3D printed prosthetic arm model being designed for an amputee patient. This was yet another meaningful example of how engineering and healthcare come together to directly improve a person’s quality of life. We also visited another lab in which professors were experimenting with designing and creating their own different guitar models , showcasing just how diverse engineering projects can be.

After the lab visits, we had lunch together one last time in the university’s cafeteria. I had a delicious carbonara rice as my starter alongside my usual chicken thigh and chocolate cake. Later, we took the metro to the Vizcaya Bridge in Getxo. We rode an elevator to the top and walked across the bridge while cars and people were transported underneath us. The view was quite nice, and the experience was both very cool and unique as well as a bit nerve wracking. Daria held my hand the whole time but I was very proud of her for conquering her fear of heights.

To finish of the trip, we took the metro to our farewell dinner along the beach where we shared appetizers such as calamari, croquettes, and potatoes before enjoying a burger and brownie for desert. After dinner, we took a bus back to Bilbao and spent the entire ride singing karaoke together. Later that night, we hung out in each other’s rooms, laughing and spending quality time together one last time before the trip ended. Overall, it was the perfect way to close out such an unforgettable experience which I hope to take what I learned here and apply it to my future career as a nurse!
