Another Day in Birmingham

on

Today we got to visit the Black Country Living Museum. I have never been to anything like it before, so it was a completely new experience for me. As we walked around the museum, it truly felt like stepping back in time. Everything was designed to show what life used to be like many years ago, which made the experience feel very interactive and interesting.

One of the places we visited was the library. It had many books, but it looked very different from the modern libraries we are used to today. We also went into the candy shop and the bake shop. The desserts and sweets looked so good and made the shops feel very authentic to the time period. Even though we did not buy food there, we had lunch later, and the sandwiches and hot chocolate were very good and warmed me up during the cold weather.

Another fun part of the day was riding the carnival rides that were at the museum. We had to pay using tokens, which made the experience feel even more old-fashioned and unique. It was a small detail, but it made the museum feel very realistic and immersive.

We also visited the old-fashioned schoolhouse they had there, which was one of my favorite parts of the day. It was such a neat experience to sit through a class and see what school would have been like years ago. I was even chosen to read from a book called Peter and Jane, which was fun and made the experience feel even more interactive.

Outside, there was a small stage where we watched dancers perform to older music. They were very entertaining and brought a lot of energy to the crowd. After performing, they even taught us some dance moves and invited us to dance along with them. It was funny and enjoyable, and I actually really liked the older style of music they played. I also enjoyed the outfits they were wearing because they were very colorful, detailed, and fit the historical theme of the museum really well. It made the performances even more fun and interesting to watch.

To end our day at the museum, we got to ride on a double-decker bus, which was another really cool experience. The bus drove us around the area so we could see more of the surroundings. At one point, there was even a protest happening in front of us while we were driving, which was unexpected and interesting to see. Overall, the museum was a very fun and memorable experience, and I enjoyed getting to learn about history in such an interactive way!

After we finished at the Black Country Living Museum, we took the bus back to the hotel, where I rested for a little while after such a long and busy day. Even though I was tired, it was a really fun experience and one of the most unique places I have visited so far on the trip, and I am excited to learn more!
