Day 6

on

Today we visted black country where they had a fun filled 60s day theme. We did a tour of the steam engine and mines along with the shops that lined this small part of town. One of the part I enjoyed the most was, exploring the old-fashioned houses, shops, and classrooms that showed what everyday life was like during the 1960s. I loved how interactive everything was, we got to go to an old fashioned school where we got to act like we were student attneding there at that time. The 60s music they were playing was also so enjoyable and we even got to learn some popular dances that went with the music at the time.

This experience was also very educational because I learned more about the industrial history of the Black Country and the important role the area played in Britain’s development. It was tough work that even children at the ages of ten had to do. It was dangerous but necessary and a huge part of Britian at the time.

Seeing the vintage vehicles along with the people dressed up was very cool and made me feel like I was actually living at that time because the atmosphere itself almost englufed everyone there. The old buses, cars, and motorcycles really showed how different traveling was there at the time. We got to even ride in the old fashion double decker bus that did a quick loop around the town.

I also really enjoyed the fact that there was a small carnival that we got to explore. We went on the haunted house ride and the flying swings.

The visit also helped me appreciate the importance of preserving local history. The museum shows how industrial communities in the Black Country contributed to Britain’s economy and culture over many generations. It really put into perspective how people made a living and contriubuted to the economy along with their familes during this time. The deep rooted history weve uncovered in Britain, the good and the bad really goes to show how people are what we are today.

I’m very excited for the rest of the trip and can’t wait to learn more and contiune to sight see with some of the most amazing people I’ve had the privilege to meet on this trip.
