Today we were able to do a walking guided tour of Buenos Aires to describe the higher power families and they interactions between each other. As well as how infulstructute built by the families was very political and acted as social movements 

We also were able to go to Eva Peron museum to learn how impactful she was being the First Lady of Argentina to Peron; who founded Peronism and grew Argentina’s healthcare system. Eva performed not just as the First Lady but as the spiritual leader to all of Argentina.  

The foundation of social aid was founded by Eva and changed the idea of charity. Instead of giving money you provide direct opportunities and needs to those in need. The foundation targeted women’s issues, education, children’s and elderly rights. The foundation creating a nursing school to educate the women into nursing careers, and gifted children with toys. Eva was the first woman that was given an ID that allowed you to vote and worked with Peron to raise awareness in political conversations to support women’s rights. Salaries of Unions workers would contribute to the foundation as well, which would provide back to these working class families.  

Perons administration worked for working class society and creates Obras Osocial which created worker health plans for those in unions. Peron also eliminated out of pocket expenses at public hospitals allowing anyone to receive care no matter what socioeconomic stance they are. He expanded infrastructure of healthcare which more facilities, and clinics. 

When Evita died due to cancer, millions went to go visit and pay respects but the country had ran out of flowers and had to import so many flowers. Peron declared there must be 14 days of grieving for the countries beloved First Lady. On the previous walking tour before this museum we were able to see her place of resting at the Recoleta cemetery. Unfortunately due to her strong political views her body was kidnapped by the dictatorship and placed in different places and sexually assaulted by soldier’s. Her final resting place was to show dictatorship and she was barried around politically powered people who were against everything she stood for. 

Overall I really enjoyed the Evita Museum and I am really inspired by her power as a women and impact on Argentina. I plan to read her book “a razón de mi vida” on my flight back home!
