Compare and Contrast:
Both Anou Cooperation and the women’s cooperation both give women the power to manage their own products. The women’s cooperation and Anou Cooperative allows women to sell their own products. The women’s cooperation is more traditional. Their work is not sold online and their platform is in the medina. However, the Anou Cooperative uses technology to sell their products. This is different than the usual supply chain method. Anou uses a website to sell its product and does not have as many face-to-face interactions with customers. The supply chain involves many different people and retailers. However, the women’s cooperation is about selling to customers in person. It is more traditional. In most cases, there is bargaining involved in both cooperations.
What I prefer:
As a customer, I prefer the women’s cooperative. I enjoyed just seeing them work on their craft, and they are so precise. I feel more connected to the craft when I am in a shop filled with different products. I get to discuss the products with the people who made them. It feels more personal to me to buy something in person. I would rather buy something from the women’s cooperative because I can see the quality and feel more connected to the product.
My Experience Today:
I am terrible at crafts and anything sewing-related. However, by actually making something, I gained a greater respect for the artisans. The way they were able to sew so quick was impressive. I actually would have bought something after seeing them work on their craft. The in-person experience is what I would prefer as a customer.
