Days 6/7: Swimming is fun

We started day 6 with a very good breakfast which was this long, thick, pancake type of thing, which was absolutely delicious. I still didn’t feel too good from my food poisoning but I still need to try the good food while I’m here. We then made some bowls out of clay which ended up mostly just being me watching the master clay woman make my bowl for me, which I was totally fine with because my bowl would not be very functional had she not. The rest of the day in the lodge was pretty chill, and involved some swimming in the pool that just opened, and a couple power naps to try and get over the sickness.

Day 7 was a lot more fun as I had started to feel a lot better, and we had a nature walk planned for the morning. We looked over the river which was now about 8 feet higher from the rain we got the previous night, and we were wondering if our nature walk was still on due to the conditions. We got the green light, and I am very glad we did, because this was one of the best experiences of the trip so far. We went into the middle of the jungle and pretty much hiked upstream on this little river that was ranging from ankle deep water, to 15 feet deep water, with a few waterfalls mixed in between. On this trip we maybe saw 5 of the biggest spiders I had seen in my life that were probably close to 6 inches wide, but for some reason I was feeling one with nature and was not scared of them and more amazed. We then made our way to some deeper areas and were able to grab some clay and jump into the water, and overall it was just awesome. We then finished the day with another chocolate tasting which is hopefully the last since I have blown at least $200 on chocolate so far. Now it is time to pack up and prepare to go off the grid 70 miles deeper into the Amazon Rainforest.
