As I come closer to the end of my second day in the rainforest, I am starting to feel like Tarzan. I woke up to the first real view of the jungle during the day, and I honestly don’t know how to feel, as I am still trying to comprehend what I am seeing. The amount of exotic greenery around me makes me feel as if I am in a resort, except it’s the real thing. We started the day off with another 8am breakfast: Amazon pancake x tamale crossover. Not sure if that’s the official name, but that’s what it tasted like. 10/10.

We then had a pottery lesson with Median. She showed us how to make pots with traditional clay sourced from the river, along with an extra item that I made with my own design. I will be using this item a lot at my house next school year. Hearing the stories of Median’s culture and the reasoning for certain designs opened my eyes to the depths of their culture.

One of the highlights of the day was swimming in the river; it felt like a fever dream. The sun was beaming down as I let the current take me away. Today was also a special day for the community as it was the opening day for their infinity pool. Watching them build it from when we first got here reminded me of the two guys on YouTube who build giant structures in the jungle on time-lapse.

Late in the afternoon, some of the members of the community took us down to their cacao farm, where I got to try the bean for the first time right off the tree. Life-changing.
