Today we visited many clinical practices such as Sanatorio Mater Dei, Hospital Fernendez, and Clinica Baterricca. At Sanatorio they were founded by a Germany movement with sisters of Schoonstatt. They provide healthcare to the large area of Palmero. They are a nonprofit private hospital whose main focus is quality of care more than luxury. Their main problem they face today is inflation as the cost of running a hospital increases the profit has become less and less. One solution they have created is fundraising by hosting Galas and events. The hospital was very pretty and was up to standards comparing to an US hospital. They were able to be supplied with large management employees and health care staff.
At Hospital Fernendez the difference between public and private is very relevant. They receive no money from the province and allow all of Buenos Aires to come. When touring the hospital you could see that lack of supplies and infrastructure this hospital had. Most of their technology was outdated and halls were quite dirty. One interesting part of this hospital is their nurses have a union. Overall seeing the differences between public and private helped me understand why Argentineans work hard to be able to get private healthcare and insurance.
