The Tower

This morning we checked out of the hotel, but before we left Sophie wanted to get rice cakes again. And I owed her money, so I went to buy them. We made our way to the market and found the same stall from yesterday. The lady recognized us! She was so happy to see her loyal customers of two days that she gave us free rice cakes! Then we left for the Hyundai plant.

It was about an hour drive and then we stopped at the museum area for lunch. I had meat and soup again. I really liked it, but I was full of the rice cakes from earlier. I didn’t finish it all, but I did eat these eggs that I think are like quail are a small adjacent bird. Then we had a tour of the museum. It was basically some dioramas and cars. Now I am not a car person, so I didn’t really get the coolest of this place. But a bunch of the guys liked it. Aside from that there was also this old dude who followed the girls around including me. Everyone was okay in the end, but it was a scary occasion especially because we were in a corporate well-traveled area. We left the place and stayed in a group to be safe well we finished the tour. So goes to show in every country there will be people of concern so travel in groups of people you trust. And I trust the professors on this trip and my roommate. Anyway, after that we went to the car manufacturing plant.

According to what I remember they can make a car every 9.6 seconds. So that’s a lot of cars. We went on like this skywalk thing and watched the cars get made, we saw them screw on like the front bummers and wires. My mom had a job like that as a teenager where every 15 min or so a manger would come by and say “sweep, sweep” to keep the area clean. Anyway, they had the whole process streamlined. The we went to the docks to see them load the cars.

The docks were awesome! They had three huge ships, and you could see ramps connecting them to the parking area. Only the ship workers could drive the cars on the ship. However, the best parts were the cars driving to the parking lot. These people were racing! They took the turn so wide and then there was a bus that followed them to take them back to grab new cars. The bus looked like it would tip over every turn. It was so fun to watch the cars load onto the ship. After that our tour was over and we went to catch the train.

Our tour guides got our train time moved up so we could get to Seoul early. It was a 2 hour ride across the country. I worked on blogs and the video during the train as work time was scarce as we had been so go go go recently. Then we made it to Seoul and it was free time. A bunch of us wanted to go up to the tower so we dropped off our stuff and walked up.

The walk up to the tower was hard as it is on Namsan mountain it was all uphill. And the boys walk so fast. After fighting up the hill we made it to the cable car. It was 15,000 won to get on and it was a bit of a line. But the view was so worth it! The city is gorgeous at night! It was about a 3 min ride up the rest of the mountain and I got a spot closest to the window. At the top of the mountain we paid another 20,000 to get into the tower and go to the top. At the top it’s a huge observation deck. You can see everything. Rohit challenged me to find the hotel and I found it in like 30 seconds so maybe I am getting a sense for the geography in Seoul. Then we went to the gift shop and I got some stuff for me and some for gifts. Then we went down a floor to try the bathrooms. The bathrooms have windows by the toilets, you can pee well seeing the view of the entire city. I don’t know if I like it but it was pretty cool. Then we went down to the bottom and into another gift shop but we didn’t find anything good and the big one was closed. We also got some group photos on the observation deck that overlooks the city from the top of the mountain. At that point it was like 10 so we needed to get going back and we took the cable car down. It was a fun ride again very quick. Me and Maddie wanted to go to Myeong-dong again to buy stuff and Rohit still needed gifts and Dom tagged along. I got some fidget keychains for some of my fiends and so did Rohit. And we made it back to the hotel just in time for curfew!
