Today was a busy, but fun day. We started the morning off with a long bus ride to Blenheim Palace. Luckily, I got to get some extra sleep on the bus, so it did not even feel that long. Upon arrival at the palace, we were greeted by our tour guide, Tim. After navigating through a race that was taking place nearby, we finally made our way to the entrance of the palace grounds.

We started our tour inside the palace itself, which was absolutely breathtaking. I found the most interesting part to be the room where Winston Churchill was born. Seeing the exact place where such an important historical figure was born made the experience feel even more meaningful. Everywhere we looked, the architecture was astonishing. Every detail seemed so carefully planned and intricately designed. From the ceilings to the artwork to the furniture, each room felt more impressive than the last. I especially loved how grand every room felt while still maintaining such historical charm. It was almost hard to believe that people actually lived there.

After touring the palace house, we ventured through the beautiful gardens surrounding the estate. The gardens were peaceful and added even more beauty to the experience. There were colorful flowers, large fountains, and perfectly maintained pathways that made the entire property feel almost unreal. Even though there were many visitors walking around, the grounds still felt calm and relaxing. We concluded our time at Blenheim Palace with a stop in the gift shop before heading back to the bus. I always enjoy looking through gift shops because they usually have unique items connected to the history and culture of the place we are visiting.

Next, we traveled to Oxford. While touring the city, I thought it was so neat how many different colleges were located right beside each other. The atmosphere throughout the city felt both academic and historic at the same time. I especially enjoyed visiting the gardens at New College. When I think about my own college experience, I think about how often my classmates and I wish we had more outdoor spaces to study or complete schoolwork. The gardens at New College felt so peaceful and welcoming, with so many beautiful spots to sit and work. It was easy to imagine spending hours there studying, reading, or simply enjoying the environment.

Another thing that stood out to me while walking through Oxford was how lively the city felt. There were students everywhere riding bikes, walking, or sitting outside talking with friends. Even though the buildings and colleges are incredibly old, the city still felt very alive and modern. I was able to get official Oxford merchandise, too, which I think is pretty cool. Now I can brag to people that I went to Oxford University… they don’t need to know I didn’t actually study there, right? Overall, today was filled with beautiful scenery, fascinating history, and experiences that made me appreciate both the history and atmosphere of these incredible places.

I’m glad you liked both places — very different, but both a combination of beautiful architecture and green spaces!
