Becoming Buddhist

Today was so interesting. We started the day by departing from Seoul to go to our one-night Temple stay at a Buddhist Temple. It was a great train ride that I spent most of the time sleeping on and beautiful bus ride through the Mountains until we arrived at the Temple. We then went on to have a terribly hard time getting our luggage to our rooms and we changed into temple robes. Which honest looked pretty good in my opinion.

We went on to have a class where we learned some meditation techniques and then we were served some dinner which was all vegetarian and Dairy free, but it was still really good. I find it crazy how much food there actually is that we’ve eaten here daily that has barely and meat in it. After dinner the people at the temple put on a special presentation for us which was very interesting as they played these harps that were resting on the ground.

Finally, we tried to walk up to see this stone buddha statue but were warned not to as wild boars lived up there, so we decided too not risk our lives. I was honest ready to go up regardless until I remembered about how Old Yeller died “to wild boards” so i steered clear. It was overall A good day, but I broke my phone so I can’t really take photos or call anyone anymore.

I think that being at the temple really let me have a bit more time to myself this trip. I think that by breaking my phone and needing to stay here for a night It made the stay more engaging and important to me. I really enjoyed learning about these martial arts and the hospitality of the people living there and the monks.
