I woke up today with great anticipation as we were finally going to the University. Unlike the day before, I was able to catch some sleep and was ready to go. I was up a little early due to Jetlag, so I grabbed some breakfast and prepared for the day.
We hopped on a streetcar and took it to the university, this was my first time on one, so it was a cool experience. After about fifteen minutes we got off and I had my first look at the university. The architecture honestly reminded me of Pitt, and the layout was very beautiful. We eventually settled into a classroom where we went over some things and also gave a short introductory presentation about our companies. This was our first meeting with the fellow German students that were in our group, so it was cool to finally talk to them. After that Patrick Will with Audi gave a small presentation which was very fascinating to see, as it was our first look at someone who was really in the German automotive industry.
We ended our university day by going to their cafeteria, which I personally thought wasn’t too bad even though I think Pitt’s is slightly better. Leaving the university, we met up with the German students who will be joining us at Pitt next semester. We did a scavenger hunt around town, and this really helped me get my bearings and map out the land a little better. It was also good to get closer with these students because we will see them in America soon.
To finish off the day it was Erin’s birthday, so we went out and celebrated. It was a very good time despite our rather early wake up time.
Overall, this was to me the first real day in Augsburg because I wasn’t on the verge of collapsing from sleep deprivation. It was super cool to finally see the University of Augsburg, and it left me very excited for the rest of the things on the itinerary.
