Today we did a walking tour of the city. We learned about the past concerning Evita and her husband Perón. Since there weren’t an employed class, husbands and wives used to work together on a subsistence farm. Many jobs were very dangerous, and top loaders would often fall into the blast furnace and die. This created a social problem, how to make peace between labor and capital. In the 1940s, Perón comes to power as a military general. The workers felt exploited so they wanted to overthrow the government. Perón wanted to create corporatism to creat peace. There were three pillars; owners, workers, and government which acts as a referee. A big part of this was establishing the unions and the public healthcare system. Vast majorly of social services were pushed to the unions. A way to help workers through the establishment of unions and a cooperation between label and capital. He married an actress, and they became a symbol together with Juan Perón. we visited a museum witch holds evita to be a saint. the museum took a more legend approach on evitas story. in the last 50 years Peronism takes on very different branches. Help was channeled to the most unprivileged in society. Before perón, the way to do this was through charity. Evita outright disregarded the idea of charity. The Peronism foundation implemented the new was sod working which was called social direct aid.
