Average Won’t Cut It Anymore

We had a packed day today with both going to the site visit at MCISE and coming back to the CCCL for a talk about AI from Zouheir Lakhdissi. I find the topic of AI to always come up in this day and age so I’m choosing that topic to write about for my blog post today. I think about it a lot and its future since it evolves so often now. I also know it’s brought up in every company and as a business student that is important to know.

When Zouheir Lakhdissi walked in with such a background of AI and its immense knowledge, I just wanted to learn more from him and his experience with it. I love hearing about it from others’ points of view. Anyways Zouheir is an AI consultant, an angel investor, and he appears on a Moroccan show similar to Shark Tank. Side note: Shark Tank was one of my favorite shows growing up and I used to always watch it with my dad with such intrigue. Zouheir was very honest about the show and how sometimes it was necessary to put on an act, but he also told us that all the deals are official. All the investments are legally binding… so he does write that check. I liked hearing about the transparency because I always wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes in shows like that.

Back to more AI, he talked about how AI will replace jobs and he wasn’t going to sugarcoat that. I could tell everyone was worried when he said that, but he also reassured everyone that AI will also create new jobs. New skills will need to be mastered so if you aren’t at the top you are going to need to work a little harder. Being only okay at the job won’t cut it in the future. More effort will be needed to combat the advancements of tech and AI. Overall during this conversation lots of feelings were being exchanged. It is nice to know now as young business students to make a change now in our learning and what we want to do in the future to better coexist with AI always being there and relevant.

AI has helped me immensely with monotonous tasks and quickens them. It helps me generate starter ideas and organizes my thoughts( which sometimes they can be all over the place). I use it to sort my budgets and make them, and I have an AI on my daily calendar which is way more organized now. I sometimes struggle with a start for things so using it as a starting point can be helpful, instead of staring at blank work. I also know AI has problems. AI can be biased, make up things, and sneak them into its product. It can also just confirm what you already believe instead of challenging you/your idea. This is an easy trap. I think also if you use it too much it starts to crowd out the part of your brain that makes unexpected connections that make something original.

Also quick henna feature and thank you Noel for setting this up for us!!
