Day 1: Leaving the Burgh

Well, here we go! My roommate Carly and I have been so excited the entire spring semester thinking about our trip to Augsburg, Germany. Before leaving, our Oakland apartment was filled with excitement and Carly and I packed up everything we would need for the next two weeks!

After endless back and forth conversation about what to bring and how thrilled we were, it was time to travel! After staying in Towers dorms on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus, my body was tired but my spirit was energetic as I was so excited to get to Germany.

This experience is my first time out of the country, so I was filled with nerves and anticipation for what the two weeks would entail!

We got on a bus and when we got to the Pittsburgh International Airport it was the first time that I actually got to spend quality time with the other students going on the Plus 3 Germany Trip. We sat around the airport playing cards until it was time to get on our flight into Newark Airport.

One short layover later, we were boarding the 8 hour flight to Munich. Before getting on the flight, I figured I would be able to sleep most of the flight but as I boarded the huge plane, I felt like I just drank a RedBull as I was so amped up about landing in Munich.

This flight was completely different from any other flight I had been on. There were twice as many seats and it was my first time trying airplane food (I do not recommend). Regardless, I had a great time watching movies and pretending to sleep!

Finally, I woke up from a 30 minute nap and looked at the clock. It said there was 15 minutes left on the flight which meant it was game time…
