Hello! Crazy to think that the program is almost done and we leave in a couple days. Sorry for the late blog. I was not feeling well yesterday and ended up sleeping pretty much from when I got home from Henna to this morning. We had a very interesting and informative lesson today on AI. The man who came in and talked to us was an investor who even appeared on Shark Tank Morocco, which was a pretty special and unique experience.
This discussion was very interesting and there was a lot that I took away from it. One of those things was the fact that Ai is taking over a lot of the creativity in today’s day and age. Ai is not being used to write books and songs, some of which are even popular, and you might not even know that its from AI. Ai is also something that is able to take away the lower-level positions of jobs which is something that a lot of people worry about. I personally am not super worried, maybe I should be, but I think that people will be able to learn and adapt to different jobs and new ways with Ai and it will end up making the world more efficient. Maybe allowing us to have more time at home and not needing to spend as much time working like out speaker mentioned.
I use Ai in a lot of ways. I will use it if I am not feeling well to look up things that can help or even make images that I would not be able to make without Ai, like mockups of products or logos. It was also very helpful in my Business Analytics class where we used it to generate data and in Calculus where I would let it teach me how to solve problems to help me study. I also keep using Ai here in Morocco. I could just use google but I’ve been using ChatGPT to look up works and pronunciation so that I am able to better communicate with my host family here.
Ai can negatively impact the creativity that people have and their creation process. We learned like I mentioned above that it is being used to write music and books which is very concerning. Ai can do things a lot faster than a human so it is worrisome that Ai might take away from creativity for quicker solutions. Its like the example given in the discussion that Ai as a doctor can see 100 million patients in its time but a real doctor can’t see nearly that many.
Overall, I thought this was a very informative discussion. It did seem to get a little bit intense which made my head hurt but I did really enjoy all the information I was able to receive. Bye!
Sarah
